 Alpha Dressage Association

The Alpha Dressage Association is located in sunny Sarasota on the Gulf Coast of South West Florida.  We are a close commute to the Tampa Bay area and are a short car ride from the local white sand beaches.  We have found that besides the gorgeous days, a looking glass gulf ocean and the security of a tight knit horse community, we have some of the best riding trails around, and nearby Myakka State Park for horse adventures outside of the arena!

ADA Monthly Meeting -

Our May meeting is Tuesday, May 8th at 6:00 pm at the new Whispering Ranches Feed on Clark Road in Sarasota.  The address is 6020 Deacon Place.  Our guest lecturer will be Dr. Wendy Ying.  Wendy is veterinarian who practices traditional Chinese Medicine.  Wendy is a life long rider. She started fox hunting in college with Los Altos Hounds and has hunted with packs in NC, VA, Ireland and England.  With her first pony, Lemmontree Magic Illusion, she entered the carriage driving world in 1998, with Dede Bushneck of Apex, NC.  She moved on to single and tandem horse with her irish draughts and “Izzy” went on to compete as an advanced single pony with Dale Govus of Tryon, NC and is a favorite at the ADS kids camp every summer.

She relocated to Florida in 2004 where Sterling Graburn and she ran Kingsforth Hall Training Center, a full service combined driving facility and sport cob breeding farm.
In 2005, Minyfford Megastar and Wendy were named as the alternates for the USEF pony world championship team and competed at Catton Hall in the UK.

In 2008, Duke and Wendy were named the USEF reserve national singles champion, being beaten by Dante and Sterling with the painful fall of cone 20 at Live Oak.

Wendy also competes in ridden dressage and with the always enthusiastic help of Mary Jane Benson, has shown many of her sportcobs at USDF training and 1st level.
In 2009 and 2010 she competed a 4 in hand of horses with the hopes of qualifying for the World Equestrian Games and was an active participant in the USEF team developing drivers clinics with German 4 in hand drivers, Peter Tischer and Michael Freund.
